About Us
Dover Straits is owned by the Metropulos brothers, who moved to the United States from a small town in the state of Poloponnesus, Greece. Three brothers came to America in 1967 and the other brothers a few years later. Most worked in downtown Chicago in various restaurants before opening Dover Straits in Mundelein in 1978.
Today, Dover Straits is acclaimed as one of the finest fish and seafood restaurants in the area. Throughout the last decades, Dover Straits received the coveted Silver Plate Award of Food Industry News. In 1997 the International Restaurant and Hospitality Rating Bureau named it Chicago’s Best Seafood Restaurant and in 2000 the same group named Dover Straits one of the top 100 restaurants of the 20th century. The brothers’ formula for success seems simplistic. Art Metropulos says, “We are always trying to meet every customer’s needs by providing good food and good service.”
At Dover Straits Seafood House, we are dedicated to providing an unforgettable dining experience, where every meal is a culinary journey. Since our establishment, we have been proud to serve the finest seafood and gourmet cuisine in a warm, inviting atmosphere.
We source the freshest ingredients, emphasize sustainable practices, and take pride in every plate we serve. Our talented chefs and dedicated staff work together to ensure that each visit exceeds your expectations.
